Chicory Legacy Submissions: "Future Roots”
We are thrilled to announce that The Chicory Project is now accepting submissions from Baltimore’s black residents of all ages for our upcoming issue of Chicory Magazine. The theme for this issue is "Future Roots" and we invite you to engage your visions of the future through the lens of AfroFuturism, or your magical perspectives of the present through the guise of AfroSurrealism.
Afrofuturism blends the traditions of African and African American culture with the limitless possibilities of the future. While Afrosurrealism takes the realities of the African diaspora with elements of surrealism to explore the profound magical and mystical aspects inherent in Black culture.
What We’re Looking For: We welcome original works of art, poetry, prose, short stories, essays, performance pieces, music, and more that reflect your unique perspective on these themes. Submissions should be no more than 700 words.
